Spiraea nipponica 'Snowmound'

• RHS Award of Garden Merit deciduous shrub with gracefully arching branches.
• Masses of pure white flower clusters (resembling snow) in late spring to mid-summer; dark blue-green foliage.
• Attracts bees, butterflies and other insects; low-maintenance, vigorous, and generally pest/disease-free.
• Excellent for mixed borders, informal hedges, banks/slopes or as a specimen.

• Height & spread: 1.5–2.5 m.
• Hardiness: Fully hardy to –20 °C).
• Position: Full sun (best flowering) or partial shade.
• Soil: Moist but well-drained; tolerates chalk, loam or sand; any pH.

• Best times: Anytime through the late autumn or winter when the soil is workable. 
• Dig a hole twice the width of the root and the same depth; plant at the same level as in the nursery. 
• Backfill with original soil (optionally mixed with compost), firm gently and water well.
• Space 1–2.5 m apart depending on use (closer for hedging).
• Mulch around the base and water regularly in the first 1–2 years until established.

• Once established, drought-tolerant and easy.
• Prune immediately after flowering (remove flowered shoots; thin oldest stems if needed).
