• Hardiness: Fully hardy throughout the UK, tolerates temperatures down to -20°C or lower; thrives in cold winters but performs best in drier eastern regions.
• Site: Choose full sun for best growth and flowering; tolerates exposed, windy positions and is ideal for windbreaks or hedges.
• Soil: Prefers well-drained soil (sand, loam, chalk, or clay); succeeds in poor, dry, or alkaline soils but avoids waterlogged conditions.
• Planting method: Dig a hole twice as wide as the root spread; improve heavy soil with compost/sand for drainage; plant at the same depth as it was growing in the nursery and water thoroughly.
