• Compact, bushy deciduous shrub (typically 50–100 cm height and spread) with grey-green foliage. 
• Produces abundant cup-shaped tangerine/orange-yellow flowers from late spring to early autumn (May–September/October).
• Extremely hardy, drought-tolerant once established, pest- and disease-resistant, and suitable for exposed, coastal, or wildlife-friendly gardens. Long-flowering and low-maintenance.

Planting advice

• Plant during the dormant season: typically November–March, avoiding frozen or waterlogged ground
• Choose a sunny or lightly partial-shade site with moist but well-drained soil (tolerates most soil types including chalk, clay, loam, sand; prefers not waterlogged in winter).
• Dig a hole wide enough for roots to spread naturally; plant at the same depth as previously grown (look for the soil mark on the stem).
• Backfill with soil, firm gently, and water thoroughly.
• Mulch around the base (keep clear of the stem) and keep well watered in the first growing season, especially during dry spells.
• Space plants 60–100 cm apart if using for low informal hedging or groups.

Once established it needs little care beyond occasional light pruning after flowering or in early spring to maintain shape.
