Amur Maple (acer tartaricum 'Ginnala')

• Compact deciduous small tree or large shrub (typically 4–8 m height and spread), ideal for smaller UK gardens, courtyards, or as a specimen/hedge.
• Outstanding reliable autumn colour (brilliant reds, oranges and crimson).
• Fragrant creamy-white spring flowers that attract pollinators, followed by attractive red-winged fruits.
• Extremely hardy, tough and adaptable — tolerates urban pollution, a wide range of soils, wind and coastal conditions once established; relatively low-maintenance.

• Plant while dormant, November–March (avoid frozen or waterlogged ground). Plant promptly on arrival.
• Choose full sun (best autumn colour) to partial shade in moist but well-drained soil of almost any type (clay, loam, sand, chalk; acid–alkaline).
• Keep roots covered and moist before planting.
• Dig a hole 2–3× wider than the root spread but no deeper than the roots; position so the root collar sits at or just above soil level.
• Spread roots naturally, backfill with excavated soil (optionally mixed with a little organic matter), firm gently to eliminate air pockets, and water thoroughly to settle.
• Mulch around the base (keep clear of the stem) and stake only if needed in exposed sites; water regularly in the first growing season during dry spells.
