Scarlet Hawthorn (crataegus pedicellata)

Size: Grows to approximately 5 to 7 meters (16–23 feet) tall with a similar broad, rounded spread.
Branches: Armed with long, dark, sharp thorns (often 2 to 5 cm long).
Flowers: Clusters of small white flowers with pink stamens/centers bloom in mid-to-late spring (May).
Foliage: Broadly ovate leaves with distinct serrated edges and pointed lobes. They turn vibrant shades of deep orange, red, and purple in the autumn.
Fruit: Followed by round, bright scarlet-red berries (pomes) that ripen in September and October and persist into early winter.
Growth & Care
Soil: Highly adaptable; it tolerates sandy, loamy, and heavy clay soils, as well as a wide range of pH levels (from mildly acidic to strongly alkaline).
Sunlight: Prefers full sun to partial shade.
Hardiness: Very hardy and tolerant of atmospheric pollution and strong winds, making it ideal for small-to-medium landscapes, hedging, or as a wildlife-friendly garden feature.
