• Outstanding autumn colour (brilliant scarlet, orange, yellow and red).

Key planting points

• Hardiness & site: Fully hardy across the UK. Prefers a sheltered position in full sun or partial shade (south-, west- or east-facing); protect from cold, dry winds.
• Soil: Moist, humus-rich, fertile soil that is well-drained but moisture-retentive. Prefers acidic to neutral pH; tolerates clay, loam or sand and short periods of standing water. Avoid prolonged waterlogging or very dry/alkaline conditions.
• Size: Ultimately taller than 12 m with a spread wider than 8 m
• Planting method: Plant in late autumn to spring. Dig a hole as deep as the root and twice as wide; backfill with native soil (optionally mixed with compost); firm gently and water thoroughly. Stake if needed and mulch to retain moisture. 
• Aftercare: Water regularly for the first 1–2 years (especially in dry spells). Minimal pruning required once established.

Suitable for larger gardens, parks or moist woodland-edge settings where autumn colour is desired.
